Abstract

Multicultural societies are shaped by the interaction of diverse social identities that influence collective behavior and social cohesion. This paper examines how individuals construct social identity within multicultural contexts and how these identities guide collective actions. Human science perspectives emphasize that identity is not static but continuously shaped by cultural interaction, social norms, and shared experiences.
The paper explores mechanisms such as in-group and out-group dynamics, cultural symbolism, and collective narratives that contribute to cooperation or conflict. While diversity can enhance creativity and social resilience, mismanagement of identity differences may lead to social fragmentation. Case-based theoretical analysis demonstrates how inclusive social policies and intercultural dialogue promote shared identity without erasing cultural uniqueness.
Understanding social identity formation is essential for developing strategies that foster peaceful coexistence and mutual respect. The paper concludes that human science research on identity and collective behavior provides valuable insights for building cohesive and resilient multicultural societies.
