Abstract

Workplace stress has emerged as a significant public health concern affecting employee well-being and organizational performance. This paper investigates the causes and consequences of occupational stress in modern work environments. Factors such as workload pressure, job insecurity, long working hours, and limited work-life balance contribute to chronic stress among employees.
The paper explores the psychological and physiological effects of prolonged stress, including burnout, anxiety, cardiovascular issues, and reduced cognitive performance. Stress not only affects individual health but also leads to decreased productivity, absenteeism, and high employee turnover. Effective stress management strategies are therefore essential for both individuals and organizations.
Interventions such as supportive leadership, flexible work arrangements, and mental health resources are discussed as key components of a healthy workplace. The paper concludes that prioritizing employee well-being is not only an ethical responsibility but also a strategic investment that enhances long-term organizational success.
