This article is a semiotic narrative reading based on the narrative organization of a protagonist's journey and the shift in his self-perception. In Khalil, Yasmina Khadra presents a realistic portrayal of a terrorist. Written in 2018 and based on a real event, this book blurs the lines between reality and fiction to reveal the manifestly unspeakable thoughts of a jihadist. This article will attempt to elucidate the mechanisms involved in effecting this transformation. The writer examines current events to offer an innovative perspective that gives the fictional element a dimension beyond the mere recounted fact.
