Abstract

This study examines the perceptions that first-year French students at the École Normale Supérieure have of reading, writing, and literature. It also seeks to understand their reasons for specializing in French. The results show that students choose this specialization for various reasons: a love of the French language and culture, a desire to become French teachers, or a wish to work in a field related to the French language. By analyzing students' perceptions and motivations, we can better understand their expectations of their training and consider teaching methods adapted to future French teachers. It is therefore necessary to develop teaching practices that meet the needs of those who will teach French in the future.
