Gender roles have historically structured social organization, labor distribution, and power relations in human societies. This paper examines the evolution of gender roles in contemporary contexts from a human science perspective. Rapid social, economic, and technological changes have challenged traditional gender norms and expanded opportunities for diverse gender identities and expressions.
The paper discusses how education, globalization, and policy reform influence shifting gender expectations. While progress toward gender equality has improved social participation and well-being, persistent inequalities continue to affect access to resources and decision-making. Human science approaches highlight the importance of cultural context in understanding both resistance to and acceptance of change.
The paper concludes that analyzing gender roles through interdisciplinary human science frameworks is critical for promoting inclusive social development and equitable social structures.
