Abstract

This article aims to highlight the phenomenon of school phobia and other associated factors that lead to academic failure as a case study, examining the educational challenges facing Algerian schools—such as fear of school and school dropout—which affect most students and negatively impact the achievement of the overall educational system's objectives. These issues also influence students' psychological and social aspects, as well as those of their families. This prompts specialists to apply therapeutic techniques from psychology, including cognitive-behavioural therapy methods. Accordingly, the study sample included 372 male and female students, relying on statistical methods such as frequencies and percentages to interpret the results. Thus, this research paper introduces various factors that contribute to the spread of school phobia, which is a direct consequence of the school dropout phenomenon.
