Abstract

The study aims to evaluate one of the most important executive functions, which is the planning function, in Alzheimer’s patients in both the first and second stages of the disease. This is done by applying several tools such as the semi-structured interview and the Brief Mental State Examination (MMSE), in addition to applying the Tower of London test to test the planning function. This is done on a sample of (2) elderly people aged between (76-78 years) with Alzheimer’s. We used the case study approach to delve deeper into the condition of the patients, and the results of applying the tests and the clinical interview showed that the Alzheimer’s patient suffers from a disruption in the planning function, and the results were similar in both the first and second stages, which we attributed, according to the current study, to the environment in which the elderly person lives, which is considered the main indicator in this study.
