Abstract

Transformational-Generative Grammar has contributed to a shift in language pedagogy from rote memorization and repetition toward competence-oriented approaches emphasizing linguistic competence, cognitive development, and creativity. Using a descriptive-analytical approach, the study highlights the role of this theory in rethinking language teaching practices and enhancing learners’ linguistic abilities. The study concludes that TG Grammar supports a transition from mechanical learning to a more cognitive and generative understanding of language. It further recommends integrating its principles into language curricula and developing more effective pedagogical strategies.
