Abstract

Performance appraisal systems play a crucial role in evaluating employee performance and shaping workplace attitudes, making them a key determinant of employee satisfaction in modern organizations. the relationship between performance appraisal practices and employee satisfaction, focusing on how fairness, transparency, feedback, and recognition influence employees’ perceptions and motivation. different appraisal methods, including traditional rating systems, management by objectives (MBO), 360-degree feedback, and continuous performance management approaches. It highlights that effective appraisal systems not only assess performance but also provide constructive feedback, identify development needs, and support career growth. When employees perceive appraisal processes as fair and unbiased, they are more likely to feel valued and satisfied with their jobs. Empirical evidence suggests that performance appraisal systems that emphasize open communication, employee participation, and regular feedback significantly enhance job satisfaction, engagement, and organizational commitment. Conversely, poorly designed appraisal systems—characterized by bias, lack of clarity, or infrequent feedback—can lead to dissatisfaction, reduced morale, and decreased productivity.
