Abstract

Micronutrients play a critical role in maintaining immune function and overall health. This paper examines the influence of vitamins and minerals on immune response and disease prevention. Nutrients such as vitamin C, vitamin D, zinc, and iron are essential for immune cell development, antioxidant defense, and inflammatory regulation.
The paper discusses how micronutrient deficiencies, particularly in vulnerable populations, increase susceptibility to infections and chronic diseases. Dietary diversity, food fortification, and supplementation strategies are explored as effective approaches to addressing micronutrient gaps. Cultural, economic, and environmental factors influencing micronutrient intake are also considered.
The study emphasizes the importance of evidence-based nutritional policies and education programs to improve immune health at the population level. It concludes that adequate micronutrient intake is a foundational component of preventive healthcare and global disease reduction.
